Outdoor Classes for Kids and Caregivers in Nature!
Playgroup Los Angeles is a unique, homegrown, family learning program rooted in whole-child & developmental play.
At Playgroup LA classes, children learn outside alongside a parent or caregiver, which fosters emotional connection and profoundly strengthens the foundational educational process.
Classes are developmental. This means children are not rushed to achieve, but rather are invited to learn. Children of all ages and abilities are challenged to grow with projects that engage and excite them.
Playgroup LA offers outdoor play-based classes for toddlers and kids led by Miss Betsy!
Delightful circle times foster a rich early literacy experience.
A predictable, rhythmic, gentle structure creates smooth transitions and self-regulation, which are invaluable assets for life and academic success. Hands-on nature play and family crafts create nourishing sensory learning experiences, a necessity for early childhood.
Classes are mixed-age and informed by Waldorf Early Childhood Education as well as a multitude of developmental and emergent learning theories and curricula.
We hold classes outdoors throughout the greater Los Angeles area, including Pasadena, the San Gabriel Valley, Silver Lake, Sierra Madre, and Monrovia. They can also be held outside in private homes and learning centers.
Playgroup LA was created and founded by Betsy Edelberg, formally “Miss Betsy,” a highly trained and experienced, credentialed child development teacher. For 14 years, Miss Betsy has taught and shared childhood with hundreds of families with diverse backgrounds, needs, and abilities.
Miss Betsy holds a B.A. in Child and Adolescent Development, an A.S. in Child Development and Early Childhood Education, and is currently completing a master’s program in family and human Development. She is a T.A. for undergrads studying family and human development.
